Vanessa understands that everybody is different. We all have different ways of learning and understanding and we all move at different paces. Vanessa will work with you to set attainable goals that you can both agree upon, will always ensure you feel comfortable and will listen to your preferences. She will also make great suggestions based on her years of experience to help keep you moving in the right direction, challenged, growing and learning.
Vanessa has worked with all levels of students from beginners through to seasoned professionals for voice, singing and dialect work. For cello, she teachers primarily beginners and works through to intermediate level before recommending conservatory teachers. Vanessa teachers up to college level music theory.
SINGING: Most Singing students are age between 13-21. Vanessa teahes from age 10 upward and also works with several adult students.
VOICE/DIALECT (for actors): The majority of Vanessa's clients are professional actors. She is lucky to be hired by all major theatres in the area to work on their productions.
CELLO: Vanessa teaches primarily beginner cello, but does work more advanced students also.
Learning an art form takes time. It's a wonderful mix of detailed technique and emotional outpouring and so the best teachers will ensure your technique is sound and works to support for your specific instrument and voice and won't try to push you into a one-shape-fits-all model. There are no shortcuts. A good teacher will not promise to train you or transform you in a few weeks, or even months, but will nurture and guide and support.
Vanessa loves hearing and seeing my students perform. She has been fortunate to work in many professional productions in and around San Diego. It's just great to see all students and artists shine and to enjoy the responses from audiences.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
It is always helpful when students have thought about why they wish to take lessons, what it is that inspires or drives them and also to have some goals in mind. A good teacher can help set realistic timelines for those goals and help set other goals along the way.
