About Rachel
I am a Yale School of Music graduate, with a specialization in Operatic singing. I have been teaching for over a decade and it is one of my greatest joys! I have experience teaching all ages, all levels of experience (from absolute beginners to Conservatory students at the university level) as well as all genres. I also have a experience and feel very comfortable teaching special needs individuals. My teaching philosophy is that students learn to sing while broadening their love for music. I encourage my students to take risks and have fun. Lessons are a safe space where making mistakes can help us grow as musicians and artists! My teaching style varies depending on the student's wants and needs. Flexibility is a huge part of my teaching philosophy. I have many tools ready in my toolbox to cator to different learning styles. As a singer, I have worked professionally through out the country, performing with companies such as Central City Opera, The Princeton Music Festival, Opera North, Chelsea Opera, Odyssey Opera, and Albany Records. I hope to work with soon on your musical journey!
I hold a Masters in Music from the Yale School of Music and a Bachelors in Music from SUNY Purchase. I also taught voice for both institutions.

My typical process for working with a new student is getting to know you as a singer. This includes you as a singing person: your past experience (if any), your musical interests, musical goals, you favorite singers etc. And also this includes you as a singing instrument: how your instrument functions, your range, your natural abilities, your musicality etc.
After we access these things together, we can come up with a plan and approach that will work best for YOU and YOUR lessons.
