About Amanda
I am a certified Spanish and Art teacher with 12 years of classroom experience. I am an expert in helping my students achieve their goals by developing individualized learning plans with them. I teach Spanish levels I-IV and a wide range of art skills and concepts: art history, drawing, painting, color theory, printmaking, watercolor, paper arts, embroidery, and more!
I love seeing my students grow and realize they are capable of doing more than they thought possibly. I am passionate about Art and Spanish and enjoy sharing that passion with others.
I knew when I was 10 years old that I wanted to be a teacher, and have dedicated my life's work to education. I began my career teaching Spanish at the high school level and eventually transitioned into teaching middle school Art.
Bachelor's degree in Education. Teaching license with endorsements for 7-12 Spanish and K-12 Art. 12 years of classroom experience teaching Spanish and Art grades 6-12.

I spend time chatting with my students to understand their learning goals, and we then determine a plan and timeline for working toward those goals. I also give them an opportunity to get to know me before we dig in to the learning process.
I've worked primarily with secondary students, grades 6-8.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should know what their goals are for acquiring a teacher: are they pursuing a casual interest of their, a passion, or are they simply seeking a litttle help with a difficult subject? Students should also think about how much work they are willing and able to commit to their learning.
