About Matthew
I am a VCE tutor with a cross-disciplinary background: a former IB graduate, currently completing a BA in History & Philosophy of Science and Classics at the University of Melbourne, following a transfer from Physics. I have a deep love of learning, and hope to help students with a passion for math, the arts, or other backgrounds to grow in their understanding.
I have supported 20+ Year 10–12 students at Oakleigh Grammar through SACs, exams, and coursework in English, Specialist Math, Math Methods, Chemistry, History, and Physics. My focus is to assist them to develop the specific skills that they need. Because every student is different, my teaching has always focused just as much on getting to know them, as the cut and dry subject material.

Tutoring students starts with finding out what they already know. Each lesson is tailored to the individual's needs. Students will be taught with patience, respect, and kindness while maintaining academic rigor and integrity. Use of clear communication and an incremental approach means students will leave classes with the confidence they need to flourish across their education.
I approach each student with experience tutoring students inside and outside the classroom environment for 2+ years. No two students are the same, but with gentle perseverance and genuine compassion, they can not only develop their academic skills but also grow up into well-rounded people.
Teaching Year 10-12 students in VCE, IB and General English, History, and Philosophy.
1–1.5hrs (negotiable) per lesson.
