About Gregory
I enjoy passing on the art of violin playing. My current studio includes students from beginner to college level. Each student comes with different strengths and weaknesses, and I find satisfaction in helping each person find their violin voice.
I have been teaching since I was an undergraduate in college, and I now hold a Masters Degree in violin performance from Penn State. Since graduating from Penn State in 2016, I received Suzuki training, and started my own violin shop.
Each student has the opportunity to learn about the violin, music making, and themselves.
I taught students during college when my teacher referred a beginner to me, and it really helped my own knowledge of violin fundamentals. I have continued teaching as part of my livelihood.

Getting the findamentals of the bow and instrument holds is paramount. I achieve this through fun games that each work a different aspect of playing. My method revolves around learning skills, then repeating them in different ways.

All types from young and adult beginners, to teaching college students as an adjunct instructor
At beginning levels, don't necessarily look for a virtuoso player as a teacher. Look for someone who you can trust and work with. Observe a lesson with that teacher if you can, or at least talk with some current students. That will tell you a lot.
I don't keep up with current events, but I get excited for new videos from my favorite cooking YouTubers! I also just celebrated a wedding anniversary. My wife is also a violin teacher!

I just played on a bow for the first time that I had rehaired here the other day. I've had this bow for many years and had it rehaired many times elsewhere, and I had no idea so much hair fit into my bow.
