About Elizabeth
Greetings! I am a passionate educator who currently oversee a "El Sistema" program. It is a afterschool music program that provides free music lessons for under resources communities! Our social change program sees music as the cataylst for social change. We are passionate educators that help to shape students who are happy and thrive!
I am also a classically trained Violist/Violinist. I studied at Peabody Institute in Baltimore and have performed all over the world including symphonies in Maryland, Virginia, Connecticut, NY and Kansas.
I also acted as a Viola coach for a youth orchestra in upstate NY for over 6 years.
My speciality includes, beginner pedagogy and students preparing for schools. I have extensive knowledge of orchestral repetoire and have great success and getting students into youth orchestras, summer festival or preparing them for concerts at school. It is my joy to watch my students grow as a musician and as young leaders!
Have you heard of STEAM? It's STEM with with A as Arts. More and more students are benefiting from having arts in their lives. Creativity is natural and should be nurtured, but often stunted. I belive that a holistic teaching including theory and improvising is part of the student learning experience! My students will explore this area if they choose to!
Watching my students grow and see them achieve goals they set is the most amazing moment! When they know they can do anything, it is truly inspiring!

I talk to the student and the parents together and establish goals. Whether it is for joy for to aquire better skills, we establish a plan together. It is vital to ensure the child feels comfortable talking to me and they ate encourage to be creative. I believe to nurturing the student's growth, holistically.
