About Kerri
Kerri Parr lives in Richardson, Texas and performs as a principal member and Co-founder of Uptown Violins. She has taught violin lessons for nine years to ages ranging from three years old to high school students. Kerri earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Violin performance at Baylor University, and studied private lessons under Dr. Eka Gogichashvili. She served as Concertmaster of the Baylor Symphony, and performed with the Waco Symphony for three years. In 2010, Kerri was one of the students selected to tour with the Baylor Symphony in Belgium. In 2012, Kerri enjoyed accompanying Joshua Bell with the Waco Symphony as he performed the Bruch Violin Concerto No.1. Kerri also holds a Master of Arts degree in counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary.
Some of Kerri's more noteworthy performances in Dallas have been at the Majestic Theater downtown, Aston Martin, Forty-Five Ten Designer Boutique where she was dressed in the Halpern 2018 Spring Line, The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, The Nasher Sculpture Center, The Rosewood Crescent Court Hotel, North Park Mall, Arlington Hall at Lee Park, The Mansion on Turtle Creek, the Ashton Gardens of Dallas, the Piazzas, Park Cities Presbyterian Church, SMU Perkin's Chapel, Highland Park United Methodist Church, Dallas Country Club, the George Bush Center, Union Station, The Four Seasons of Dallas, Norton Rose and Fulbright Law Firm, Frost Bank for the Uptown Tower's opening, Mckinney and Olive Tower for the Foley and Gardere Law Firm, and the Ritz Carlton of Dallas. A few other venues she has played at in the Texas area are The Milestone, Villa del Lago in Austin, TX, the opening of the Shops at Clearfork in Fort Worth, TX, The Laurel, and Morgan Creek Barn. She has also performed several times at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City along with the Webster House. Kerri has performed in Wichita, KS at the Orpheum Theater, Mark Arts Center for Performing Arts , and at the 2017 Autumn and Arts festival in Bradley Fair.
Kerri studied Suzuki violin beginning at age three and Suzuki piano at age five. She attended Suzuki Institute and Sound Encounters in Ottowa, Kansas for over eight years where she studied under Alice Joy Lewis, Brian Lewis, and took master lessons from William Preucil. In addition to the Suzuki Institute, Kerri attended the Masterworks Festival in Winona Lake, Indiana. In 2009, Kerri soloed with the Wichita Repertory Symphony after winning the Runner-Up Youth Talent Competition. The same year she won the Women’s Federated Contest.
Kerri comes from a musical family of three generations and enjoys performing and teaching with her four sisters. Music is an important part of her life, and she hopes to continue the art of music making in her own family.

Typically, I receive an email inquiry for a new student and I email or call back with information about my studio and what services I provide. Then we set up a time to have a "practice" lesson where the family and I see if we are a good fit for each other.
