About Dustin
I am currently a graduate student at Wichita State University studying Trumpet Performance. I previously taught privately in the Kansas City area where I earned my bachelor's degree in Music Education from MidAmerica Nazarene University.
A typical trumpet lesson includes a combination of exercises in trumpet fundamentals, rhythm, sightreading, and repertoire; however, lesson content is also catered to each student's strengths, weaknesses, and personal goals. A typical jazz improvisation lesson includes exercises in jazz style, music theory, solo transcription, and learning jazz standards.
I have experience and enjoy teaching students ranging from complete beginners to seniors in high school. Previous students of mine have participated in various honor ensembles including the ECKMEA All-District Bands and the Kansas City Youth Symphony.
