During my time as a teacher I have led the EYFS, KS1, phonics, maths and hold the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination. I run two small group sessions for children in year 1 and year 2 on a Saturday morning. The maximum I have in my group are 6 children. I adapt my sessions according to the children’s needs.
The aim of the sessions are to improve the children’s confidence and equip them with strategies in maths and literacy. I follow the National Curriculum.
I teach current topics in maths eg multiplication and division and fractions but also revise concepts such a number bonds. The sessions are based on White Rose Maths which is a scheme most primary schools now use.
In Literacy, I go over phase 5 phonics, grammar, sentence structure, conjunctions etc. I also prepare the children for their phonics screening test if they are in Year 1.
