About Bastienne
I have mentored humanities students for 21 years, specializing in critical thinking skills for thesis and dissertation writing. I offer skills such as: how to structure a thesis; how to read an academic article; how to write a literature review; how to write an argument and how to write a thesis proposal-- all of this in the Humanities and Social Sciences. I have an academic background in English Literature, Religious Studies, Biblical Studies and Mythology. My working background includes Southern African Socio-Economic Justice sector and activism, the oral history writing sector, organizational development work. I taught professional communication skills for public speaking to Commerce students, for five years. I am also an emerging textile artist and can assist students in conceptualising their work.

I teach using a flipped classroom method where you get facilitated to write your thesis/dissertation work and get skills in writing during the session itself. My aim is to turn around your writing issues within an hour by assisting you with skills that will let you work independently after that hour. I teach all postgraduates in the Humanities. I am a patient and kind mentor, because I've probably failed at a whole lot of things more than you have! I understand learning issues and how hard it can be to find the right assistance.
