I am an artist, living and working from Edinburgh, Scotland. I am a patient and observant tutor. I give my students as much creative freedom as I possibly can, while still maintaining an organized and comprehensive curriculum. I have a strong sensibility towards students' individual personality, and I will adapt to suit that specific student's needs.
I tailor my teaching methodology depending on the student. With younger students (10- 15 years), the lessons are dedicated more to real time drawing rather then long theoretical explenations. I teach basic technique while the top priority would be retaining their attention and promoting expression. Moreover, I also try and teach through students' natural interests (comic books, illustration etc.). with older students (fifteen and older) I am able to delve into more complex techniques and concepts. With older students I am also able to help structure their independent practices and guide on different modes of practice.
Regarding how tutorials are structured, every tutorial will usually start with reviewing last tutorial's exercises. I will sensibly critic exercises ( depending on the students age and capacity), and correct the student in a productive manner. Following the critique, I will go over a new subject, which we will either practice together or I will explain and instruct verbally for the student to later exercise on their own. Some sessions, with more seasoned students, will revolve around a specific project (such as a picture a student wishes to paint).
I am a multi-disciplinary artist, I graduated with a BFA in fine arts in 2015 and a PG diploma from the world-renowned Glasgow School of Art. I offer specialized knowledge in all mediums of painting and sculpture. I have a passion for education, and experience with tutoring students of all ages in all aspects of artistic practice - from conceptual thinking to painting techniques and everything in between.
