My teaching method is based on understanding the energetic effects of asana (and in particular how to effect the prana vayus).
I always begin with where my client feels their energy is and how they’d like to change it, and sequence accordingly .
I want to know what thing you love doing, what things you don’t, how calm your mind is, how strong your body feels and I create sequences tailored to you from there.
Hey I’m Jeni, I’m an online yoga teacher, an ex runner and ex service development lead.
I left the corporate world when I had my daughter, and now dedicate my time to helping people feel peaceful but powerful through specific but joyful sequences tailored to you - your body and your mind.
I’ve been teaching for four years in gyms and community settings with regular online classes too.
My training is ongoing - of course! The initial 200 hr YTT was completed with yogacampus. And since then I’ve trained with Shiva Rea, Rod Stryker, Doug Keller and more.
I love Jeni's classes! She is so welcoming and supportive for those at any level of Yoga. For me I am a perpetual beginner! and always find her classes the perfect balance between accessible and challenging. With her attentive and encouraging instruction, her classes feel technically sound and very well guided. I love receiving her weekly emails too (in fact they are one of the few subscribed emails I permit in my inbox!) as they not only motivate me to keep on track with my daily practice, but offer new insights on postures and ways of relating to my body. I have enjoyed both private and group classes with Jeni and have found both phenomenally helpful. I started out with a 1:1 which was great as it allowed her to learn about me, my body, and help me with postures I have always struggled with. I would say If you are looking to progress or just starting out - and are wanting a yoga teacher that is both enjoyable to work with and technically strong in their teaching - definitely try out one of her classes - you wont be disappointed!
I started private sessions with Jeni during a stressful work period, I was run down and struggling with hip problems due to years of ballet and poor technique in gym classes.
The sessions were a revelation. They were so tailored to my needs and Jeni has a unique style which is calming but focused, I really felt as though I could just turn up as I was on the day and still have a really great session without the pressure of being "ready".
She unpacked the poses and sequences I'd been throwing myself into for years and focused on what I should aim to get out of each pose and engaging the right muscles. For me, I now realise that going slower is harder and I had to stop thinking about speed as something which is positive (I mantra for our age I think..)
She also recommended complementary exercises and things that I should be thinking about it terms of injury prevention.
I would highly recommend Jeni, not only is is so specific about the sequences but very supportive. The sessions were the perfect way to keep active during a difficult time physically and emotionally.
Jen is an incredible yoga teacher who puts her heart and soul into all of her classes. They are the perfect balance of strength and relaxation, peppered with beautiful yoga wisdom. I always feel wonderful and calm after a class. I would highly recommend checking her out.
