This course covers direct-on-film animation, pixilation, rotoscoping, hand-drawn frame-by-frame techniques, and hybrid methods combining analogue and digital. Learn to animate without a computer using accessible materials—scratching on film, painting frames, photographic methods. We'll study legendary animators (Norman McLaren, Len Lye, Caroline Leaf) while developing your personal animation style. You'll create multiple short pieces exploring different techniques, understanding rhythm, movement, and how animation can express abstract concepts and emotions.
