About Vera
I am a computer programming tutor with 6 years of experience teaching students of all levels, from beginners to advanced learners. Over the years, I have successfully guided 150–200 students, helping them improve their coding skills, complete assignments, and prepare for exams and job readiness. My teaching philosophy focuses on clarity, hands-on practice, and building problem-solving skills. I encourage students to experiment, ask questions, and develop their own approach to programming. I cover languages like Java, C, and SQL, and emphasise practical applications and real-world projects. My goal is to make programming clear, enjoyable, and empowering, helping students gain confidence and independence in coding.

My teaching approach in computer programming is flexible, supportive, and focused on building strong problem-solving skills. I tailor each session to the student’s pace, goals, and learning style, making sure they feel confident and motivated. I cover Java in depth, including object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, file handling, exception handling, and GUI development. Additionally, I introduce related topics like basic C concepts, SQL for database interaction, and fundamentals of web-based applications when relevant.
I believe programming is best learnt by doing, so I emphasise hands-on coding exercises, mini-projects, and real-world examples. Students are encouraged to experiment, ask questions, and develop their own approaches to solving problems. I provide consistent feedback and guidance, helping learners correct mistakes and strengthen their understanding.
Supportiveness is central to my method. I create a comfortable environment where students feel free to explore ideas without fear of failure. Accountability is also important; I help learners set clear goals and track progress, ensuring they achieve tangible results. Flexibility allows me to adapt explanations, exercises, and projects to suit beginners, intermediate learners, or those preparing for exams and job readiness.
By the end of each session, students not only master Java syntax but also develop logical thinking, algorithmic skills, and the confidence to apply programming to real-world problems. I aim to make programming clear, practical, and enjoyable, so learners gain both knowledge and independence.
