Everyone wants to tell big stories — a film, a series, a play. But the real craft begins with one scene, the building block of all storytelling. If a single scene doesn’t connect, the larger story won’t either.
In this class, we will focus on writing stand-alone scenes. Drawing from the world of performing arts and acting, we will explore how people feel, react, and reveal themselves. Together, we’ll look at where characters come from, what drives them, and what helps audiences connect with them beyond genre or plot.
This is not about rigid rules, but about exploring the nuances that make a scene truly alive.
