Hello there. I have been involved in training and adult tutoring most of my professional life. I specialise in psychology and sociology from AS to undergraduate levels and have worked in many different private and class room based environments, as well as distance learning with the Open University. I also work in private practice as a counsellor and psychotherapist and within an educational context can offer support on managing exam nerves and over coming general emotional obstacles around studying. I also teach functional skills English & Maths so can help with essay planning and writing skills and essential maths skills. I usually aim to work one to one with students either at my private home studio or at their own home with those already attending a course of study ie to support existing study. I try to keep sessions relatively relaxed and informal and very much aim to adapt to the needs of the student. People embark on study for many reasons so I can also help those pursuing general interest and learning development.
I have been an adult education tutor since 2005. Prior to this I was a trainer and manager for a large corporation. I have worked as a therapist in private practice since 2002. I have taught in colleges, adult education centres and prisons and also with The Open University. Group sizes vary from one to one to up to 100 through distance learning support and over the years I have played a part in helping 1000s of students from very diverse backgrounds, ages and academic experience achieve their study goals.
