About Jo
Hello! I’m Jo, a qualified teacher with QTS and 14 years’ experience teaching children across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 in both state and private schools. I’m passionate about helping young children develop a love of learning and feel confident in their abilities.
I tutor because I enjoy getting to know each child as an individual and creating learning experiences that are suited to their needs, interests and personality. I believe that children learn best when they feel happy, supported and encouraged, and I love seeing their confidence grow as they make progress and achieve things they once found difficult.
I offer friendly, personalised 1:1 face-to-face tutoring for children aged 3–7, helping them build confidence, strengthen their skills and enjoy learning.

How I can support your child:
Whether your child is preparing for Reception, needs extra support with their early learning or would benefit from consolidating their schoolwork, I tailor every session to their individual needs, interests and stage of development.
I can help with:
Phonics & early reading: Letter sounds, blending, segmenting, reading fluency and comprehension.
Writing & handwriting: Pencil control, letter formation, spelling, sentence writing and developing ideas.
Early maths: Counting, number recognition, number bonds, addition, subtraction and problem-solving.
School readiness: Building confidence, independence, communication and the skills needed for a positive start to school.
Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 support: Consolidating learning, addressing gaps and preparing for the next stage.
My approach:
I believe children learn best when they feel happy, supported and encouraged. My sessions combine purposeful learning with practical activities, games, stories and children's interests to make learning engaging and enjoyable.
Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I get to know each child and adapt my teaching to help them make progress at their own pace. My aim is for every child to leave feeling proud of what they have achieved and excited to learn more.
I also value working closely with parents, providing friendly feedback and sharing ideas to support learning at home.
