About Felicity
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught instrumental lessons on cello, singing and piano for the past fifteen years, and began teaching when I was still at school. From 2010-2012 I taught cello, singing and class Music in an international school in Brunei, SE Asia. On returning to the UK, I covered a maternity leave as a class Music teacher at The Perse School in Cambridge for six months, and taught cello and piano at a further education college. I am now teaching in two schools in Bedford, and also work as a private music teacher and professional cellist. As a performer I give regular solo and chamber music recitals, in addition to orchestral work. I have an excellent record of success with my students who have taken ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall Exams, with the vast majority having achieved a merit or distinction. As a class teacher I have prepared students for GCSE Music (OCR and Edexcel syllabuses), A Level Music (Edexcel) and the Cambridge Pre-U Music Examination.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes
- Where and with whom did you train?
I attained my undergraduate and Masters degrees in Music from the University of Cambridge. I continue to study cello privately with Sue Lowe. I have also had lessons and masterclasses with Alexander Baillie, Mats Lidstrom, Louise Hopkins, Tim Hugh, Pierre Doumenge, Tim Lowe and Matthew Lowe. Having been taught by some of the best cello teachers in the country I feel confident in my ability to teach at the highest level, and as a passionate performer I wish to inspire and cultivate my love of the cello in my students.

I want to help you or your child to discover the joy of making music. I am 100% committed to helping my students to understand and develop good technique and through this learn to express themselves in music. It is important to practise every day, even if just for a short time, and for young children it is vital to have parental support and involvement. Dedication is required if you want to improve, but this is self-perpetuating as the more you learn and improve the more you want to do it! Music is a wonderful thing and opens up so many doors, from increased self-expression and awareness, the ability to join ensembles and make new friends to the joy of learning a new skill or aiming for technical mastery of your instrument. If you want to learn the cello I want to help you to discover this wonderful instrument, the rich sounds you can produce and the beautiful repertoire you can learn to play. I would love to help you to achieve some or all of these goals, and have a lot of fun on the way!
