About Rebecca
Although I am technically a classically-trained musician, I shifted away from this world when I moved to Edinburgh and never looked back. I now perform and have recorded in many different projects involving traditional musics from Appalachia, Scotland/Ireland, the Middle East, Greece and places in between and am always excited to explore other musical traditions.
I have taught violin, my primary instrument, in many different settings over the years, from individual lessons through to group workshops and tune-teaching sessions.

I want to support you in learning how to play what you want, whether that's an old Scottish air, a rollicking Irish reel or something else entirely.
Generally I like to teach through a combination of ear and notation, combining the old ways with the new to make the learning experience as accessible as possible - and fun! We can take a look at bow technique, ornamentation, exploring how to accompany tunes, the little things that can help make you feel at home in traditional music regardless of your musical background or level.
Lessons are usually between 45mins and an hour. I am happy to be flexible, just let me know.

Rebecca is completely fluent in Arabic and has an in depth knowledge of both the language and culture. She is patient, fun and encouraging and will be a great teacher for anyone wanting to learn.
