About Marcus
I am a final year medical student in King's College, University of Cambridge. As a tutor, I’ll help students prepare for exams, work together on class work they need guidance with and help them improve in a particular subject that they’re struggling in. Tutoring also reinforces my own skills and techniques as I am exposed to different learning styles. It strengthens my communication and leadership skills and my ability to adapt these skills to individual students and their needs. These skills are important for my own growth as a professional and as a doctor eventually.

I am a tutor under various educational consultants in the UK and Malaysia (i.e PrepWorks, UniAdmissions, 6Med, Oxbridge Applications, TutorChase and Leading Education Ltd), and my students come from different parts of the world such as China, Malaysia, Africa, Canada, Europe and UK. I specialize in teaching skills needed in medical school admission, tailored to the needs of each individual student (i.e personal statement writing, admission tests, interview skills etc.) For personal statement writing, I will help students to craft their statement in a way that appeals to admission tutors at selective institutions, by helping them to develop academic ideas and self-reflection from various work experience, showing their academic flair. I will also provide super-curriculum which introduces them to degree-level topics. This will also benefit them during the interview stage.
For admission tests, I lead the 6med UCAT crash course (for more than 100 students) and provided 1-1 UCAT+BMAT Tuition for more than 100 students. For UCAT, students will be asked to attempt a full test to identify their weakness and strengths. From there, we will work on specific sections by going through past year questions, helping students familiarize with the different styles of questions and developing their own strategies since time is the biggest enemy in UCAT. My UCAT Score was 3020.
I have experience organising Mock Interviews and Supervisions for students via the Cambridge Outreach Programme and various 1-1 sessions. In these sessions, we discussed degree-level topics to emulate the academic discussions often present in Oxbridge Medicine Interviews/MMI interviews. . I also provided mock interviews for individual students as well as sixth form colleges such as Cardiff Sixth Form. My experience of applying to various medical schools with different interview formats, and being successfully accepted into Imperial College London, University of Glasgow and University of Newcastle allow me to provide valuable feedbacks to students via mock interviews. I will also coach students to develop their personal and academic ideas in a more constructed manner, as well as presenting their train of thoughts by thinking out loud.
To further increase the chances of students being accepted into universities, I am also providing A-levels tutoring(Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths) for several students in the meantime. Some students would even reach out to me in Year 11 for a Headstart Programme to increase their chances of getting into medical schools. In addition, I also have experience in tutoring A-Level subjects such as Biology for different exam boards (CIE, AQA, Edexel). I was part of the Dukes Education Summer Boarding Coarse Easter Programme where I tutor international students in Headington and Earlscliffe School for A-level Biology.

Perfect! Marcus has been instrumental in helping me improve the structure of my answers and practice talking my thoughts out loud during academic discussions in preparation for Cambridge interviews. I truly appreciate the diverse range of questions he provided, which challenged me to think outside the box. The sessions have been incredibly insightful!
- Cathy was an excellent student with good grasp of basic principles in Biology and Chemistry, and a strong passion to study Medicine.Marcus's response :
