My teaching method is to initially assess a child's prior knowledge so that I am aware of their current strengths and areas for development. I build on this and stay at the child's pace. I make the work challenging but achievable so that they feel a sense of pride and build confidence. I like to support them both academically and through strengthening their motivation and self belief.
I am a final year Primary Education student studying at Durham University. I have been providing extra lessons for all abilities of students for six years. I have taught lessons in all subjects on the current curriculum. I have experience with children from a wide variety of backgrounds and abilities.
If you would like to cancel a lesson/ babysitting this is no problem however it would be much appreciated if this could be requested at least 24 hours in advance.
I have 10 GCSEs and 3 A levels. I am currently in my final year of my primary education degree at Durham University where I have achieved a first class in my first and second year of study. I hope to achieve this in my third and final year.
I have an enhanced DBS check and I have also completed the Football Association Primary Teachers' Award, both of which can be supplied on request.
One of my work placements has been carried out at my local primary school in Northern Ireland where I finished in 2018 prior to my place at Durham University. I have also completed voluntary work at the Explorer's section of my local Girls’ Brigade. This involves working with other leaders of the company to organise activities, such as team games, for children aged three to seven years old. Through GB I have also been able to complete sub officer training and this has helped me to develop leadership and organisational skills. Since beginning my course at Durham I have completed two block placements in schools teaching up to 75% of the timetable and assisting with after school activities. I also visited once a week every week for the other times in the year. This has provided me with a great deal of experience and knowledge which I can apply to ensure I meet the needs of every student I teach. Most recently I have worked through the summer at an English Language school in Ascot. There I was Head of Pastoral Care and so was responsible for the creation and maintenance of a safe and secure environment for the students on site. I also observed and assisted with children who were struggling in class or wanted extra English lessons due to my passion for wanting to see children succeed and enjoy their learning journey.
