About Maya
I have always enjoyed the individuality that art can provide. Each student will have a very different interest and I like to find out about your interests and help to enhance them. I personally choose to draw and paint but will often use found materials to make sculpture as well. Having taught in a school as an art support tutor I have been able to see lots of different ways of teaching and decide what I think is the best for each student. I am happy teaching and enjoy the interesting discussions with students which often help me solve a problem in my own work. A grounding in art history allows me to provide you with supplementary artist references, historical and contemporary.

I like to start by building on what you already know, I will have a look at any work that you have produced in the past and from there can gauge how best to adapt the lessons.
It is also important to know your goals, Do you want to improve your drawing? Are you working towards and exam? Or maybe you are putting together a portfolio for university applications? These can change the focus of the lessons to make them exactly what you are interested in.
I have a degree in Fine Art and will be completing a Masters in Painting at the RCA. I have worked as a art tutor in a school for a year, both supporting other teachers and taking lessons myself.
