About Jessica
I have always been a keen musician. I have always loved to sing and have been playing the piano since I was 7. However, since starting saxophone lessons 11 years ago, this instrument has been my favourite by far. Allowing you to explore the genres of classical, jazz, pop and more, I believe that the saxophone is one of the best instruments that a student can learn. It is also fantastic for allowing students to get involved in music ensembles. I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of concert bands, jazz bands and even a chamber orchestra! The saxophone is an extremely fun instrument to play, as well as being incredibly rewarding. It has helped massively in boosting my confidence, both personally and as a performer.

I am a recent First-Class Music and English (BA) Graduate from Royal Holloway, University of London. I have been playing the saxophone for over 10 years, in which time I have undertaken grades 3-8, as well as passing the ARSM exam in 2023 with Merit. For my final-year recital at university I achieved a very strong First. Whilst at university I studied music pedagogy, specialising in saxophone teaching. This module taught me valuable skills surrounding instrumental teaching, as well as giving me the chance to teach a fellow student through a course of 5 lessons. My lessons would usually last between 30-45 minutes, depending on the student's level. This can range from complete beginners (both to saxophone and music in general) to more experienced students who want to undertake higher grades (6 or above). I am open to teaching students of all ages. I also hold an Enhanced DBS certificate. My teaching emphasises the importance of scales and arpeggios, as well as sight-reading, in keeping with the exam requirements for boards like ABRSM. I also highly value the opportunity to do duet work with students, as I feel that this is a great way to boost their confidence and give experience of playing as part of an ensemble.
