About Lara
I am recent Cambridge graduate looking to take some students in Sheffield this autumn. I have been playing the piano for over fifteen years and have a strong background in music theory, which I developed alongside my performance studies at university. My experience in education began as a teenager, where I started as a Student Teacher at a Dance Studio and since then, I have worked as a Private GCSE Tutor, Assistant Teacher, and as an Assistant House Parent at a boarding school. Music has always been a big part of my life and I look forward to sharing it more with others!

I take a student-led and holistic approach to lessons, including music theory and aural skills in my instrumental lessons. I aim to not only teach piano, but to create a deeper understanding of music as a whole. I encourage students to go and explore pieces, composers, and styles that they enjoy and mix technique with a larger emotional, theoretical, and contextual understanding of each piece. I specialise in beginners, teaching classical piano and music theory up to Grade 5 and offer 30 minute, 45 minute, and hour long lessons. I use the ABRSM music exam board as guidance, but will not pressure anyone into taking exams!
