About Sophie
I am a fluent French speaker with over 16 years of teaching experience. I have taught French in schools and as a 1:1 tutor for students aged between 5 and 17. I have successfully supported students through GCSE and A-Level French and have provided fun and engaging sessions for younger children or specific language knowledge for adults just wanting to brush up on their French knowledge. I have also taught English as a foreign language to French students and am skilled at understanding the language choices and structures of French speakers which helps to support my own teaching of French. I currently work in a Primary school and also tutor English and Maths. I have trained other teachers in teaching French at Primary level and written research on the use of actions to support language learning and worked a lot on the teaching of phonics for French.

I tailor my sessions to the specific needs and abilities of my students and like to ensure sessions are fun and engaging whilst being of an appropriate level of challenge. I ensure knowledge is reviewed regularly and students are aware of next steps, where the main gaps are in their learning and what is needed to progress effectively.
