About Stokes
Woodsmoke and old strings always remind me of my early days learning guitar by ear. I spent 13 years teaching 218 students how to connect with the music.
My BA Folk Music shaped my belief that listening comes before reading. I teach strumming patterns and scales and modes to working professionals and returning learners alike. Grading exam candidates and intermediate students remains a core part of my practice.
I bring a deep understanding of lead guitar and electric technique to every conversation. It is a joy to share this tradition with you.

Maybe you want to sound like you have been playing for years. I provide a diagnostic skills check before building the lesson plan to ensure we hit your specific goals. We focus on rhythm guitar so you have a solid pulse under your fingers. Developing your lead guitar ability happens naturally when you mimic the patterns I demonstrate.
