About Martin
It's my job to get you feeling confident and relaxed about your maths. I do this by breaking down complex methods into manageable chunks, we can work on each chunk until you're happy with it.
I show you exactly how I'd complete a problem and talk you through my thought process so you can understand how to break problems down yourself.
Above all, you have to feel relaxed and confident about your maths and I can assure you that you are not going to be placed under unnecessary pressure or made to feel like you can't do something.
I've worked and had success with students at all levels and this is because I recognise individual students' needs and work with them to allow them to progress, no matter what their starting point is.

Lessons focus on identifying gaps, improving confidence and showing you how to gain the marks that your knowledge deserves.
I teach using the 'I do, you do' method so you'll be working hard and learning throughout the lesson. You'll also receive an initial assessment that I will use to produce an individual learning plan so you can see exactly what you'll be learning and when.
Lessons last for 1 hour which will give us enough time to completely cover a topic with you having the opportunity to get plenty of practice.
I'm a former head of maths and have 25 years teaching experience, I've also worked for 15 years as an examiner, so I know exactly what you need to do to pass your GCSE Maths. I also have a degree in maths.
I mainly work with year 10 and 11 students going through their GCSE but I also offer tuition to students in years 7, 8 and 9.
