About Kwan
Hiya, welcome!
I am a former Hong Kong U15 & U18 Representative and Top 50 ranked player with a lifelong dedication to the sport. My journey started when I was 8 years old and is defined by over 10 years of intensive, professional training in China. This background gave me a deep, biomechanical understanding of the game that I now share with players across London.
My coaching experience is diverse and high-level:
- Elite Pathway: I served as an Assistant Coach for the Hong Kong Youth Development Squad, helping transition top junior athletes into the professional and national ranks.
- Grassroots & Schools: I have years of experience coaching primary and high school teams, fostering talent from the ground up.
- Adult Performance: I work 1-on-1 with adults of all levels, translating professional-tier concepts into practical wins.
My Specialisations:
I focus on foundational skills, technical diagnosis, and game strategy. I pride myself on being very patient and excelling at breaking down complex concepts, such as serve deception and third-ball attack, into simple, actionable steps.

I bring the intensity and precision of the Chinese training system (where I spent 10+ years) to the London table tennis scene. As an Asian player, I believe foundational skills are the essential base for a better game, and I specialise in training these through patient, high-intensity drills. Once your 'system' is solid, we move into the 'chess match', in-game strategy and deceptive serves. I pride myself on being very patient and highly effective at explaining complex foundational and gameplay concepts, ensuring you don't just do the work, but truly understand the logic behind every shot. Whether you are a 'weekend warrior' looking to crush your colleagues or a junior aiming for the rankings, my lessons are fast-paced, insightful, and most importantly, fun.

My Coaching Base: Decathlon Canada Water
Most of my sessions take place at Decathlon Canada Water (right next to the Jubilee Line and Overground). It’s a fantastic venue with a high-energy, professional atmosphere that is perfect for focused training.
- Table Hire: Please note that the table fee is separate from the coaching rate. At Decathlon, this is £9/hr.
Other Locations & In-Home Coaching
If you prefer to train at a different club or have a table at home, I am happy to discuss travelling to you.
- Travel: I don’t charge for reasonable travel time, though a small fee may apply depending on the distance and transport costs. I’ll always give you a clear quote before we confirm.
