About Jamie
I am currenlty a stay at home parent. I was on a SCITT course to become a secondary science teacher, but I left the course as the work-load was too much for my family life. Previous to being a stay at home parent (3 years) I was a process R&D chemist in industry (5 1/2 years). Prior to that, I completed my PhD at Durham (Chemistry) and a masters in chemistry (MChem hons). I always loved teaching and, if it wasn't for the incredible workload of teaching, I would be on my way to becoming a teacher now.

I have never tutored, so my teaching method will be based on what I have learned and put into practice on my SCITT course. This includes planned, structured lesson plans, with a focus on the course specification. Using multi-media to aid understanding and always adding enthusiasm to whatever I teach. I have been trained to construct 4 part lessons, with a focus on memory recall improvement techniques (an important skill for the modern exam based GCSE papers) as well as meta-cognition. Differentiation, based on pupil need and progress is a key part of teaching and I will use the variety of my experience and analogies to bring science to life for my students.
