About Melanie
I studied Japanese for approximately 6 years, having also lived in Japan doing a language intensive. My undergraduate degree was in Fine Arts and Japanese, and I have a long abiding love and respect for Japanese culture and linguistics. I have done unofficial tutoring for 6 years, and have a good understanding of Japanese basics.

My teaching method for Japanese is three parts per class, being grammar, vocabulary, and culture. As Japanese is so closely tied with Japan's culture, I believe it is crucial to have an understanding of the cultural background as well as a grasp on the mechanics of the language. While group teaching is also offered, one on one explanation is available upon request.
