About Janet
I have been painting, and illustrating, from an early age, having gained my A' Level Art Certificate at St. Mary's Sixth Form College 1984. I have sold my Artwork to clients and am currently undertaking a Graphic Design Foundation Degree, as a mature student at the University Centre of Blackburn, where I have just a couple of weeks left until the end of my two-year course. I love drawing and usually work with graphite pencils or watercolour pencils.

I am a great believer that a student learns, and performs, better in a relaxed environment. When I draw I usually have my pad on my knee whilst sitting in my armchair and my pencils at my side. That is how I work best. I am aware that every individual will have their own comfortable method and I think that it is important to allow each student to use their own "comfort zone" during my lessons. This may include some form of background music both agreed by student and tutor, once the basics have been taught and the practical begins, as this can relax a tense student and let the pencil and mind work better together. Being a piano and keyboard musician, I find that I produce better work when I have music in the background. This may not be the case for everyone so I will respect the student's own comfortable setting. After getting to know the student's abilities, in this field, I will ask them if they have any specific areas they wish to cover.

Travel

Details
My travel costs are set to £8.00 as I do not currently own my own vehicle. This may vary slightly depending on the distance I need to travel if the student wishes me to conduct the lesson at their abode. If a student needs to cancel a lesson I ask to be given 48 hours notice, unless due to an emergency.
