About John
Bilingual with French and US citizenship, I hold a Bachelor's in French Literature and a Master's in Professional French. I previously was with the French government's international trade agency, developing business between the US and France-in the language. I have worked in Paris in culture as well as in Avignon for the wine industry. I continue to work on behalf of French companies, mostly in the wine industry, managing their North American business relationships and export sales. I am married to a French lady from Montpellier. We return to France often. At home and with her family, we mostly speak French. I often advise Americans on how to study, find work, and build a life in France, having done so myself.

As a tutor, I focus on the practical, daily aspects of French as opposed to strict, by-the-book French. While I am focused and knowledgeable on grammar and sentence structure as the basis of learning French, I will be upfront about what "daily, normal usage" French is so you are less lost in real life situations. I like to mix traditional language learning with discussions on life, culture (e.g., music, film, literature), regions, and other aspects of France. I can also advise on living, studying, searching for work, and working in France.
