About Lauren
I'm Lauren and I studied French and Translation studies at the University of Birmingham. I have lived and studied in both France and Spain. Therefore, I'm very familiar with the language learning process (what works and what doesn't) which helps my teaching approach. My passion for teaching English as a foreign language stems from my year in Spain where I taught students English and prepared them for the Cambridge exams. My previous experience of learning French and Spanish gave me an advantage as I could guide my students in how to avoid errors I'd made in the past when learning languages and avoid wasting their time.

The first lesson is always free as you decide whether we'd be a right fit. I start with goal setting and creating an action plan, that it is attainable. I also assess the level of my students in the first lesson. Lessons typically last an hour with room for flexibility. They are open to all ages with levels ranging from A1-B2.
My sessions are completely adapted to the specific needs of the student (if a student wanted to focus on studying for an exam e.g. Cambridge, we would focus on working through practice papers and the marking scheme on the website, which I have experience of marking). If the student's focus is general acquisition of the English language, I can help build confidence surrounding specific skills (Reading, Writing, Speaking or listening).
