About Philippe
I am French-born but also grew up speaking Spanish as my mother was a Spanish native. Before I start teaching you I shall want to involve your parents as well as ours will be a team effort and all concerned will receive feedback so as to measure progress. Needless to say during our first conversation I shall endeavour to ascertain your actual knowledge and your perceived needs to draft my first lesson plan. You will be sent a lesson plan and learning resources a week in advance to carry out tasks set. At the end of the lesson I shall be talking to you to ask what you feel we should learn for the following lesson i.e. topics, grammatical points. This conversation will enable me to draft our lesson plan for the following lesson. Needless to say I shall send feedback to your parents. Naturally I would expect you to contact me during the week if there are points you have not fully understood. In other words I shall be available throughout the week to deal with your queries so as to make you feel supported and guided during the learning process. Last but not least we shall cover the four skills during every lesson i.e. Speaking, reading, writing and listening.

Highly effective teacher with complete dedication and commitment, thoroughly planning lessons to provide careful structure, variety and stimulation. My teaching is dynamic, with a vigour and pace which captivates students. Assessed Lesson Observation grades for my lessons have often been “outstanding”, frequently noting, among other things, the clarity of objectives, the range of activities, the inclusion of group work, attention to key skills, reinforcement of key learning points, the highly positive learning environment and the evident enjoyment on the part of students. Many of the latter have commented on my inspirational influence upon them. I have over many years worked extremely hard on the development of learning materials to provide for the needs of students of all abilities within his teaching groups, to stretch the more able and to provide support where it is needed. In the process I have produced a unique resources bank (now a Digital Learning Platform) which has proved enormously beneficial to learning and which never fails to impress visiting professionals. A Polish educationalist visiting in 2011 described her experience in the Modern Languages Department at Strode's sixth-form college, sitting in on my lessons and viewing the resources he had created, as “life changing”.
