About Sarah
I would love to help because languages are my passion and, having studied French since I was 7 and Spanish since I was 11, I am very familiar with the grammar up to an advanced level in both. I was the Modern Foreign Languages Prefect at my high school, indicative of the recognition I received in being talented in these areas and my ability to nurture passion in them, and have tutored year 11s before in both French and Spanish within an academic setting. I also helped teach refugee children between 10-13 years old for a year as part of an UNHCR scheme at my school. I am currently studying French and Spanish as my undergraduate degree at the University of Manchester, and have obtained an A* in both at IGCSE Level and an A in Spanish at A Level as I couldn't also do French. However, in my French exams that I have undertaken so far in my first year and received back I have obtained nothing but firsts. I would love to help.

I would be available to tutor any level up to undergraduate degree level - so both primary and secondary school (GCSE, A Level, and BTEC) students. Lessons would begin with overlooking vocabulary related to a specific cultural topic studied in the curriculum, and this knowledge would be tested through flashcards and repeated references throughout the class through materials in the language (to practice comprehension of texts and/or audios simultaneously, as well as develop cultural insight) before a test at the end. Vocabulary which was often forgotten or misspelt would be identified and carried over to the start of the next lesson. The main body of the class would be a grammar point of the curriculum, with tables often being written and practiced for verbal conjugations. Worksheets would be given out after this point had been explained and any mistakes would be gone over to help reinforce knowledge. Grammar understanding would be built over the course of several lessons. My teaching philosophy is to teach at a firm but steady pace with a lot of space to be understanding towards errors whilst identifying them and focusing again on this knowledge later, in order to gradually build overall confidence. Switching between different topics to maintain interest and invoke diversity in lessons would also be employed so the student would be enthusiastic in learning new things and develop knowledge of several areas. Speaking in the language would be a common feature of lessons so as to practice oral fluency as well, and would be the main medium of communication in lessons where this is possible for the student.
