It is clear in my mind that teaching allows for the combination of conveying a profound interest in one’s subject area with a creativity that stimulates interest in learners. Interacting interculturally is vital in the modern world and I appreciate the benefits that languages offer. I have a BA from Birmingham, MLitt degree in linguistics from St Andrews and PGCE and MA from Durham.
My specialist subject is French, for which I have two degrees but I also have Spanish which I studied at university and German at A-level. Following my PGCE at Durham I taught French at Leeds Grammar School for several years. Then in December 2014 I completed a CELTA/TEFL course in Oxford to gain experience teaching English in an international setting. I have experience as an examiner for A-level and GCSE French as well as for Cambridge International Exams, for English. I have lived in France twice and taught English for the British Council in Tours.
