About Surya
Surya Cooper - B.Ed, Cert Teacher of the Deaf, Cert Music Ed, SYVC Yoga Teachers Cert. I have lived in the Richmond Borough for most of my life, and have been teaching music for many years. I have taught children, young people and adults, many of whom have additional needs. I was previously a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing as well as being a Yoga teacher. I established the long-running Yoga class at ETNA in 1985. I am a singer, songwriter, guitarist and teach guitar, ukulele, singing and piano. I am also a workshop facilitator and events coordinator and run the Wilful Community Choir in Kingston. I regularly perform with my students and choir members for various local charities.

My lessons are creative and innovative and include: Songwriting adapting styles and techniques as required Learning and playing chords Instrumentals Strumming patterns Learning to play your favourite songs Encourage you to play by ear Optional theory including chord structures Optional grade exams including Recital Grades or Performance Awards (which are more focused on playing rather than musical knowledge) eg RGT (Register of Guitar Teachers), Rockschool and LCM (London College of Music) and they can also be taken online, either live or recorded as well as Face to Face in Person. I have been teaching for over 20 years and a full DBS From 30 mins for children, 45 mins for teens and 1 hour (older teens/adults)
