I hold a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in both criminology and psychology from the University of Middlesex.
I have undergone a proofreading course.
I have taught several students English as a foreign language, particularly students from China.

I’m Claire. I specialise in helping students strengthen their English skills in a practical, supportive way.
How I Teach...
I use interactive, conversation-based lessons tailored to you. We focus on real understanding rather than memorising rules.
You’ll practise speaking and writing, get clear explanations of grammar and vocabulary in context, receive gentle corrections, and work on the exact areas you need (literature analysis, media texts, exam-style answers, or everyday fluency). Every session adapts to your level and goals so you make steady, visible progress.
Typical Lesson Length
Most lessons last 30–60 minutes. Shorter 20–30 minute sessions work well for quick practice or homework help; longer ones are available when you want deeper work.
Qualifications & Experience
I have extensive knowledge of English Language, English Literature, and Media Studies at GCSE level and well beyond. I can explain texts, analyse language and media, help with exam technique, and support both foundation and higher-tier work. I also have substantial experience teaching English as a foreign language (EFL/ESL). I regularly help non-native speakers improve their speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and pronunciation through patient, structured practice and real conversation.
