About Jacob
I'm a First-Class Honours graduate in BA History and International Relations at Swansea University. I also lived in Hong Kong as an exchange student for one year.
My first teaching role was in Leipzig, Germany. I taught English language to refugees (adults and children) in 1-to-1 lessons and in a classroom setting. I absolutely loved it and inspired my interest in helping students the best way I can!
I'm currently Head of Editorial for an online political platform. This role involves reviewing articles and policy proposals from students and emerging writers. My personal passion is journalism and I write extensively for the platform. My interests include politics and history in Asia, and the Belt-and-Road Initiative (BRI).

My experience in research, editing, and writing in an academic and professional manner will provide the necessary tools for anyone who wishes to explore world history.

I have taught a number of different exam boards:
- A-Level & AS-Level (AQA and Edexcel).
- GCSE & iGCSE (AQA, Edexcel, and CIE).
I'm passionate about unveiling world history and presenting it to my students in an engaging and simplified way.
My teaching involves structured, personalised lessons at a pace that makes students feel confident. I have a supportive and holistic approach, in which I want students to learn how to think outside the box and always challenging themselves. I also have compassion for students who need extra help in reaching top grades (8/9 & A/A*).
Lessons I specialise and areas covered:
- Essay writing, structure, and technique.
- Primary source analysis.
- Memory work (dates, data, themes, historical figures).
- Practice papers (assessing strengths & weaknesses).
- Short lectures.
Although I'm a tutor, I was also a student - GCSE, A-Level, and university - and I hope to give as much wisdom as I can about how to tackle the most important exams in your life.
