About Wanderson
Well, I could stay here for hours talking a lot of technical jargon, but as I know this is hardly going to help you, I'm going to the part that interests you.
I made a mixture of everything that is good in the other methodologies.
For example; during your class, only you speak in english, but as a teacher, not only can i but i will say some things in portuguese. You can even get a little confused. But wait a minute, I'll explain it to you;
Our brain works with associations, on the right side of our brain is what we are learning at the moment, on the left is what we have already learned. You already speak your mother tongue and have learned it since you were a little boy, so it is already stored on the left side of your brain, but you are learning a new language, and what you are learning goes to the right side of your brain, and when you do it the association of what you already know with what you are learning, the speed you learn is absurdly enviable. This method is called (NLP)
“but does that mean that we will speak in Portuguese all the time?” NO, NEVER THINK, NO, NEVER, DON'T THINK 'BOUT IT ANYMORE, PLEASE ...
You will speak in English all the time in your class, I, your beautiful and wonderful teacher, will say some things in Portuguese for you to switch to English, thus making the association we need, for your brain to learn more and better.
One more point about the methodology;
I work a lot, a lot even with audios, I understand that the production in a certain language is a human behavior and that when we repeat this behavior: how to use the grammar forms correctly, we create linguistic habits, that is, the learning of a language it is seen as a process of developing the right habits, which is very good to be developed with activities with DRILLS (they are practices made according to models to develop habits).
During our classes we are going to do this exercise a lot. I will give you a model, you will reproduce. I, like any other English teacher, know that your goal is to speak, and my mission is to get you there. Then you will go through many, many moments of communication.
There is another feature that is particularly my favorite; not only do I teach grammar implicitly, I’m not going to be talking a lot of rules, because that’s not how your parents taught you to speak, right?
Example;
Me - Personal pronoun of the case
straight I want - Transitive verb
direct Water - direct object
huh?!
What actually happens is that when you were a child and were learning to speak, you must have said "Eu qué esse" pointing your index finger. Here comes an adult near you and says; “I want water” And after hearing someone saying this phrase that you learned so much, and when it grew, things became a little more complex.
Example;
"I want water and juice".
Then it gets more complicated
“I wanted water, but I saw the juice and changed my mind".
This is how you will learn from me, with models in a very light and very simple way. (Gramatica Gerativista )
In the next classes we will do like this; I will speak a few sentences and you will speak after me and in a few moments I will speak in Portuguese and you ALWAYS IN ENGLISH.
