love tutoring because I am given the opportunity to help children achieve their best and inspire them on a personal and academic level. It excites me to see how energetic a learner becomes as soon as they understand a topic they struggled with. The determination and enthusiasm that stirs within a child is heart-warming. I enjoy getting to know my learners and to learn about life from their perspective. It brings me such a sense of joy to gain insight into their views and opinions about life. I can confidently say that I have learnt as much from my learners as they have learnt from me. That is why I love tutoring.

I'm honest.
I'm flexible, I'm always willing to adjust techniques and approaches to meet the learning styles of the student.
I'm patient. What is obvious or easy for me may not be so for my student. I don't show annoyance or any set of negative emotions to discourage the students.
I'm a good listener. My client's wellbeing is also important to the structure of my teaching techniques.
I'm professional. Information about the student shall be kept confidential.
Im willing to share my own experiences. By sharing information about what i have encountered, the student may feel relieved that he is not alone. Sharing experiences and lessons learned goes a long way toward building trust and support. It also helps the student build self-confidence.
Im a collaborator. The tutor-student relationship is a partnership. I am not there to take the place of the instructor. The student will know i am there to work with her to supplement classroom and individual study.
Teach the student how to learn. As a tutor my ultimate goal is to help the student become an independent learner.
I'm confident. You choose me for my qualities that enable me to be a good tutor and role model. However, having confidence also means having the courage to admit i don't know an answer. I'm honest with my student, I always follow through. This may actually make them feel better knowing I am not perfect (and it is a great opportunity to teach learning skills).

Details

I do not charge on a hourly basis, I charge R100 a single day. My sessions take time based on the understanding of a learner ,e.g. if I do a topic with a child and I can see they struggling, I'll spend more time with them to make the content easier, once I am confident they understand the topic, and they can do it on their own,I'm available all the time for my clients, the student can also consult anytime if they dont understand a content in my absence
