About Matteo
As an individual who holds as First-Class BA and MA with Distinction in English, I am not just a qualified teacher but an expert in the subject, with my particular fields of expertise being 19th-21st century literature. I have a keen interest in Shakespeare, and practice Creative Writing: I have prior professional experience in journalism and marketing, and have authored two traditionally-published poetry books and one novel.

My tutoring style is very cooperative - I'll be adjusting my methods to your needs! Depending on what you're studying, we might be analysing texts together, I might be teaching you techniques you can use to support your own learning, or I might be setting you exercises and marking your work to help with your comprehension.
As a fully-qualified teacher with five years of experience, I use proven pedagogical methods in my classes. I offer bespoke lessons based on individual students' learning styles and pre-existing knowledge. For secondary school students, I may introduce a concept with examples, work through that concept with the student, then assign a task allowing students to practice the concept themselves before I provide feedback; for college and university students, I may set an essay and offer live feedback and critique. I offer classes to all ages, depending on students' need: I may help primary school students with vocabulary and grammar, I may help secondary school students to understand a literary text or tackle an essay, I can discuss concepts and research methods with university students and provide conversational classes for adults.
I have taught the UK GCSE, IGCSE, and international A-Level English Language and Literature curriculums, and am currently teaching IB MYP Language & Literature at an International School in Belgium. I have also worked as a Learning Support Assistant (specifically in English classes, including TEFL/ESOL classes), and as a 'Native Language Volunteer' for the English immersion camp Angloville. I have experience in giving 1-on-1 tuition to both students studying specific exam boards, and adults wishing to improve their conversational English.
