About Jennifer
I have been teaching French at Magdalen College School, Oxford, since 2014 and before that, I taught at Guildford High School for Girls, St Helen and St Katherine, Charterhouse and St Paul’s School. My 25 years of experience in these top institutions have given me an invaluable knowledge of the English educational system and considerable experience in fostering the highest academic standards among my pupils. Year on year, my pupils obtain top grades at IGCSE and A Level; in August 2026, all my A Level pupils obtained A and A* grades, and all my IGCSE pupils obtained 8 and 9 grades. I also specialise in Oxbridge entrance preparation which includes literature and language components but also the interview process. I love seeing young people grow in confidence as well as knowledge and appreciation of the French language and culture.

From my early experience as a French Assistant at St Paul’s School to my current teaching at Magdalen College School, I have acquired significant experience in teaching individual pupils, small groups and entire classes; my teaching style is described as kind, organised, encouraging and enthusiastic. I believe in rigorous grammatical acquisition to enable pupils to manipulate the language creatively and enjoy the freedom that precise knowledge brings. Each lesson should include a speaking, listening, reading and writing component with a strong emphasis on the francophone context, as language, music, literature and culture are all interconnected. Each year I run Oxbridge preparation sessions and help sessions for IGCSE and A Level.
