I believe positive reinforcement and encouragement is key to learning. I encourage learning through play and experience. I am able to draw on my previous experiences teaching abroad to aid this, using diverse methods in order to fortify conceptualisation and understanding due to a language and resourcing barrier.
Hi! I am a fully qualified primary school teacher, looking to tutor whilst completing my MA degree. I have taught a wide range of ages and abilities within schools (4-11), and also hold a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification.
If a lesson must be cancelled at least 24 hours notice must be given or will still be charged.

BA3 Placement – Year One Teacher September 2017 to January 2018
I was working within Year 1 at Cranberry Academy. This placement allowed me to really encompass the roles and responsibilities of a teacher as my teaching time was significantly more. As well as being responsible for the planning and delivery of lessons, I was responsible for my own phonics phase within the Key Stage, which allowed me to engage with my phonics training received at university in a more consistent manner. I thoroughly enjoyed working within Key Stage One, I enjoy being able to breakdown concepts that ultimately form the foundations of learning to come. I have been able to draw on my previous experiences teaching abroad to aid this, using diverse methods in order to fortify conceptualisation and understanding due to a language and resourcing barrier.
BA2 Placement – EYFS Teacher January 2017 to March 2017
I have also undertaken a placement in Early Years at Brierley Primary, Crewe which had high numbers of bilingual pupils, which allowed me to engage thoroughly with my TEFL training and cater to the individual needs of all pupils. I was working as part of a team of 4, with a class side of 33.
BA1 Placement – Year Three/Four Teacher March 2016 to June 2016
My initial placement was completed within a mixed Year 3 & 4 class, ensuring that I was able to teach effectively to meet the needs of such a wide range and age. My time at St’ Albans was key in developing my differentiation skills, ensuring the work was accessible for all and was still meeting their age-related goals specified in the curriculum.
TEFL Intern, GVI – Volunteer Abroad September 2014 to March 2015
Whilst in Thailand, I was teaching English as an additional language. I was independently planning lessons on a daily basis, teaching English classes for numerous students within the community. Including a variety of ages and abilities; ranging from children to adults.
In addition to my placements, my specialism within university is Special Educational Needs. This is key personal interest of mine and wish to develop this further in the future. I have shadowed the SENCo in my BA2 Placement, and feel as if I have a good surface level understanding of the job role and how the SENCo contributes to the wider life in school. I have also completed by dissertation under the discipline of SEN, focusing upon test-related anxiety and mindfulness as a school-based intervention.
My other specialism is Art and Design and Technology. Allowing children to work creatively and innovatively within the classroom is a skill I strive to foster and encourage. I am keen to relate learning back to art and allow children to express themselves. Engaging in art allows them to expand their thinking to be creative and in turn, preparing them to think critically in regard to another artists’ work. The skills developed through art can be applied to other elements of the curriculum to ensure a deeper understanding and to fortify conceptualisation across a wide range of subjects.
