About Jason
I have been tutoring mathematics full time for the last 10 years and thoroughly enjoy my work having lots of success. I have a near 100% pass rate with the new 9-1 GCSEs. Some of the successes include a pupil moving from a predicted grade 6 to a grade 9 and another moving from a 5 in his December mock exam to a grade 8 in his March mock exam, gaining the award for most improved result in the whole school and then went on to achieve a 9 in his GCSE. Another pupil who moved from a grade 2 to a grade 4. In total I have had over 200 students in who all improved their grade and achieved grades 4-9 (C-A*+).

I want all my students to be able to develop their understanding of mathematics rather than just learning how to answer a question. Confidence breeds success. I try to work with their class teacher in following the methods they are being taught at school but also realise that different methods may be appropriate if they are struggling. I set homework weekly which is assessed at the start of each session unless it is a longer piece or exam paper which is taken away and marked and brought back to the next session. I plan topics which are linked to previous learning in order to develop the bigger picture of mathematics but have excellent subject knowledge so I'm able to change my plan if the student wishes to look at another area that might have arisen as a problem in school/college. I also like my students to be proactive and get in touch if they wish to cover a particular topic which wasn't mentioned at the end of the previous session. I have a good relationship with all the people I tutor, they are at ease to ask questions and all opportunity to praise is used to help raise confidence. My tutoring sessions are planned and individualised for the students' needs. Homework booklets, workbooks and worksheets are provided for every session.
