About Laura
If you are looking for someone who will be able to provide an educational and fun experience then I am well suited to the job. I have a degree in Ecology and Wildlife Conservation and have frequently taught specialist lessons to Primary and Secondary schools on a variety of Biology and Environmental topics.
I understand that the traditional school learning environment isn't for everyone. Everyone has their own pace and own learning style. It can be stressful, upsetting and cause anger if they are unable to grasp a subject at school. It can make children agitated or nervous, making them feel 'stupid'. This is not the case. I've met a lot of children who have struggled in school and they should never feel bad because they learn differently from other children. Tutoring should be seen as fun, definitely never a punishment. I aim to relieve anxieties and make subjects fun, so they feel happy and want to learn more.
I've been running my own environmental business for the past year. From that we got our first book accepted by publishers! I've been a private tutor for over 5 years, but teaching on specialist subjects for 12 years. In the past I have worked at places such as Woburn Safari Park, Crocodiles of the World and Bournemouth Oceanarium.
