About Charlie
Hello! I am a working musician in the Cardiff area who graduated from the University of Nottingham with a Bachelors degree in Music in 2019. I have been playing the Trombone for 12 years myself, and achieved ABRSM grade 7 in 2016. I have also had the joy of performing in and around Europe with the University of Nottingham Wind Orchestra, in such places Berlin, Amsterdam and Barcelona. Over the course of my tutoring career, I have helped multiple students achieve their goals and watched them develop into confident players from complete beginners.

I work with students at beginner to intermediate levels. I always like to set out goals with the pupil (or parent if working with younger students), and carefully work towards those gaols using a combination of age appropriate practical exercises to help build player confidence and technique, alongside step-by-step theory knowledge, and a relaxed and fun attitude towards the learning process. Starting with easy to play and snippets of popular tunes such as the Jungle Book's "Bare Necessities" and a gradual introduction to reading and understanding music, I would develop the students natural talent to a stage where they would feel confident to take exams (at their request), and be able to play more advanced pieces. Alternatively, my lessons are easily adaptable to students who are looking to explore the Trombone as a hobby.
