About Janee
I am a dancer and actress. I am back in college to get my teaching certification so I can teach in elementary schools and I plan on opening my own dance school for people of all ages. I've been dancing since I was younger and have entered many dance competitions as a dancer during my own school years. I also was a cheerleader for both my high school and a competitive cheer team. I have choreographed routines for local musical theater programs and music videos for independent artist. I look forward to expanding my knowledge of dance to the academic community due to my belief that expressing oneself in artistic ways will allow an individual to be well rounded in life.

My teaching methodology is that I allow myself to follow the child. Everyone learns differently, especially when it comes to dance. Therefore, I believe it's important for a teacher to observe the student(s) to access the level of the class and to see which students may need a little more attention and support. As far as lessons go, I always, always start with a good warm up which then leads into streching. After stretching, I would teach some moves that the students can do across the floor or in a dance circle(depending). Then I would teach an easy combination and give the students time to work in groups they would help build team work. Then I would have the class perform the routine and end class with a cool down/stretch.
