I believe the most effective method of teaching varies between levels.
-For those currently undertaking national 4 modern studies/ SVQF 4 Social Sciences, I believe it is best to fully tailor lessons around what you are struggling with in terms of the information explored at this level.
-For those currently studying national 5/ SVQF or higher/ SVQF 6 modern studies/ social science, my method is to focus upon essential skills such as critical thinking, essay structuring, as well as going over past papers to build confidence around our knowledge and how to apply this.
-For those currently studying advanced higher modern studies/ HNC social science, lessons will be more tailored surrounding what you are struggling with specifically. This may be, for example, exploring theoretical perspectives, key terminology, etc.
Overall, your needs and goals are at the centre of the lesson plan!
-Lessons vary from 30 to 60 minutes.
-Qualifications: Higher National Diploma in Criminal Justice, Higher National Diploma in Social Science.
-Relevant experience: as a teaching assistant in further education, I have a good and up to date understanding of the curriculum in place. I am also experienced in providing study skill sessions and general assistance with reading and writing.
-Who my lessons are for: those who study modern studies, sociology, criminology (though please note I am able to provide tuition on policing and criminal justice to a certain degree)
