About Emily
My name is Emily and I am currently finishing my A levels, I know how hard GCSEs can be and how many students struggle with English literature and language. However, you need these subjects to progress in the next stages of your life and I will help you to do that. I really feel as though I have hacked how to study GCSE English and how to write a grade 9 essay every time.

Having sat my own GCSEs just three years ago and successfully guided a full cohort of students through the most recent exam cycle, I offer a unique advantage: I know exactly what it feels like to sit in that exam hall.
Lessons can be however long you feel your child needs, I am flexible to you! I usually suggest an hour a week as it is a good level of consistency for positive improvement.
My methodology moves away from dry, old-fashioned lecturing. Instead, I focus on:
The "Hack" Mindset: I teach the specific linguistic "triggers" and structural shortcuts that I used to secure top marks.
Modern Contextualisation: I explain 19th-century texts using modern analogies that actually make sense to a teenager in 2026.
Exam Stamina: We focus heavily on how to manage time effectively so you never leave the final 15-mark question blank.
Experience & Qualifications:
Proven Track Record: One full GCSE cycle completed with students achieving significant grade improvements (moving from predicted 3s to 7s).
Fresh Academic Insight: Currently studying A level English literature meaning my analytical writing skills are at their sharpest.
I have a specialist focus on Macbeth, A Christmas Carol, Inspector Calls and power and conflict poetry but can give general essay help for any texts!
